Kmusware Studios ("we", "our", or "us") provides the mobile application Spelingo (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the App. By using Spelingo, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Account Information

To create an account, the App requires the user to provide:

  • Name (or Nickname)
  • Email address
  • Password

Creating an account is optional. We offer a Guest Mode that allows users to access core functionality without providing any personal data, although progress tracking may be limited.

All account information is provided voluntarily.

Note on Passwords: Passwords are individually encrypted (hashed) before storage. We never store user passwords in plain text.

1.2. Voice Audio

The App requires microphone access to analyze reading aloud.

  • We do not store original audio recordings.
  • Audio is only processed temporarily by automated models for transcription and reading evaluation.
  • Audio is immediately deleted after processing.

1.3. Transcriptions and Reading Metrics

Although audio is not stored, transcriptions are saved, along with reading-related data such as:

  • Words per minute (WPM / PPM)
  • Word error rate (WER)
  • Correct and incorrect words
  • Silence metrics
  • Reading level indicators

These metrics are associated with the user’s account (if logged in) to allow progress tracking over time.

1.4. Non-Personal Information

We may collect non-personal data such as:

  • Device type
  • Operating system version
  • App interactions
  • Crash reports

This information helps us improve the App’s performance and stability.

2. How We Use the Information

  • Provide reading transcription and evaluation.
  • Display progress and statistics to the user.
  • Maintain and improve App performance.
  • Ensure functionality of user accounts and login.

We do not use personal data for behavior tracking across other apps or websites.

3. Advertising and Analytics

The App does not currently display ads or use analytics.

We plan to incorporate analytics or advertising services in the future. If and when these features are implemented:

  • We will only use services certified for Family audiences (Google Play Family Ads Program).
  • Any advertising displayed to children will be appropriate for their age and compliant with applicable policies.
  • This Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect those changes.

Until then:

  • No advertising data is collected.
  • No analytics tracking is performed.

4. Data Storage and Processing

All data is transmitted securely using HTTPS encryption and stored in secure servers.

  • Reading metrics and transcriptions are stored until the user deletes their account.
  • Data may be stored or processed on servers located outside the user's country.

5. Children’s Privacy and Family Usage

Spelingo is an educational tool designed for users of all ages, including children and adults. We take the privacy of our younger users very seriously.

  • Parental Guidance: We encourage parents and guardians to guide their children's use of the App. If a user is under the age of digital consent in their country, we recommend that a parent or guardian create and manage the account on their behalf.
  • Data Minimization: We do not collect more data than what is strictly necessary for the reading-analysis functionality.
  • No Audio Storage: As stated in Section 1.2, voice recordings from children (and all users) are processed temporarily and never stored.
  • Safety: We do not share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. User Rights

  • Access their stored information.
  • Request deletion of all data.
  • Delete their account directly within the App.

Upon account deletion, all associated data (including reading metrics and transcriptions) is permanently removed from our servers.

7. Security

We implement robust technical measures to protect user information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS).
  • Secure Password Hashing.
  • Secure access control to databases.
  • Data minimization (no audio stored).

No method of electronic transmission is completely secure, but we strive to safeguard all data handled by the App.

8. Data Retention

  • Audio: Never stored.
  • Transcriptions and metrics: Stored until account deletion.
  • Anonymous device data: Retained as needed for performance and debugging.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons.

Any changes will be reflected with a revised “Last Updated” date.
